For this Find of the Month we are focusing on the file 87/13619 – Public Information Section – Canberra’s Water Supply Brochure. This file has a selection of guides to assist the public in conserving water around the home.

The first of these brochures, Let's Talk Saving Water, dates from 1973 and provides a brief history of Canberra’s reservoirs prior to the construction of Googong Dam in 1977.
The next brochure, Saving Water Around Your Home, and accompanying poster date from 1988. As with the 1977 brochure the message remains the same – with a little planning we can do a lot to conserve water.
It should be noted that despite the usefulness of the information in these brochures, they may also contain information that is now out of date. To find the most up to date information on water conservation measures in the ACT go to the following websites:
